The Fresno Police Department is hiring.
Chief Jerry Dyer is very positive about the recruitment of new candidates – especially with the retirement package they are offering.
“We have the number one solvent retirement system in California. We are either better than or equal to the new state system, so that’s our biggest recruiting tool, quite frankly, is our retirement system and the fact that we have the retirement option plan on top of that retirement system.
The police department has been using side by side comparisons in industry magazines -like Cal Chief and PORAC – to show potential recruits the pay and retirement benefits.
“If somebody comes to us with experience, we’re automatically going to start them out at “C Step” mid level, and we may even be offering them D, E OR F Step, Top Step pay that’s how you get those people from other agencies.
